Amanda Anisimova Secures China Open Title After Thrilling Final Against Noskova
The third seed, Amanda Anisimova, emerged victorious at the China Open, claiming her second WTA 1000 title of the season. In a captivating final on Sunday, she triumphed over Linda Noskova with a score of 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 on the hard courts.
Anisimova, who had previously overcome defending champion Coco Gauff in the semifinals, sealed her first China Open trophy with a decisive backhand winner, collapsing onto the court in celebration. Reflecting on her journey, Anisimova shared in her post-match press conference, «It`s been quite a few weeks for me… I`ve learned a lot about myself. I think I can take a lot of positives and look at it as a lot of progress for me just figuring out ways to face certain challenges and push myself in moments when it feels like I can`t go any further.»
On the other side of the net, 20-year-old Noskova made history as the youngest Czech player to reach a WTA 1000 final since 2009, having heroically saved three match points in her semifinal clash.
Anisimova dominated the opening set, securing it in just 23 minutes by converting all three of her break point opportunities. Noskova fought back strongly in the second set, breaking Anisimova early to level the match. However, the American elevated her game in the decisive third set, winning the final four games to clinch the championship.
Anisimova now joins an elite group, becoming only the third American woman to lift the China Open trophy, following in the footsteps of tennis legends Serena Williams (2004, 2013) and Coco Gauff.
