Chris Eubank Jr. Compensates Fighters After Cancelled Benn Fight

Chris Eubank Jr. has provided funds to cover the expenses of the boxers scheduled for the undercard of his initially planned fight against Conor Benn, which was called off in 2022.

The highly anticipated match between Eubank and Benn, set at a catchweight, was scheduled for the O2 Arena. However, it was abruptly cancelled when Conor Benn tested positive for prohibited substances.

The cancellation not only impacted the main event but also deprived numerous undercard fighters of their chance to compete. Chris Eubank Jr. addressed this issue during a press conference promoting his rescheduled fight with Benn, set for April 26th at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Eubank Jr. announced his intention to allocate £50,000 from his earnings to distribute among the affected undercard fighters, and he has now fulfilled this commitment.

Despite this charitable act, some critics on social media have accused Eubank Jr. of publicizing his generosity for self-promotion, questioning why he didn`t handle it privately.

Others have challenged Eddie Hearn, promoter from Matchroom, and Conor Benn to follow Eubank`s example. At the press conference, Hearn mentioned that all boxers under his management were quickly given new fight opportunities after the cancellation. Among those who have received compensation are Felix Cash, Harlem Eubank, Lyndon Arthur, and Ellie Scotney.
