The highly anticipated rematch between two of British boxing`s most recognizable names, Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr., is set to ignite the ring once more. Benn has now confirmed that this upcoming bout, scheduled for November 15 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, will be their final encounter, regardless of the outcome. He aims to avenge his unanimous decision defeat from April against Eubank Jr.
In their previous fight, Chris Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KOs) secured a victory despite challenges in making the 160lbs weight limit. That initial clash was widely considered a contender for “fight of the year.” Seven months later, Conor Benn (23-1, 14 KOs) returns to the squared circle with the hope of making history, striving to be the first member of the Benn family to overcome a Eubank in their storied boxing rivalry, a feat that would require success on his fourth attempt within the family lineage.
Carl Froch, the four-time super-middleweight world champion, shared his insights on his YouTube channel, offering tactical advice for Benn. Froch suggested a calmer, more patient strategy, advising Benn to rely on his jab, take his time, and select his shots more effectively, rather than rushing or being overly aggressive.
“Conor Benn might be able to turn it around and change it, he might be able to box a bit calmly behind the jab, take his time a little bit more and then maybe picks his shots a bit better and not rush or walk into things,” Froch commented. “He did hurt Eubank in round three in the first fight. Can he capitalize on that by being a bit cuter behind the jab and looking for a smart shot rather than looking for a wild shot by forcing the pace?” Froch added, drawing from personal experience, “Forcing the pace and forcing the pressure against Eubank Jr. doesn’t work, I know that from sparring him. If you put him under the cosh, he fires back, he fights fire with fire and he always has done.”
Froch later revealed that Benn himself communicated his firm decision regarding the future of their rivalry. “When I spoke to Conor Benn earlier, just briefly, he said that there won’t be a third fight. He said, ‘we are not fighting again, win or lose’,” Froch stated.
