Spencer, a Montreal-based fighter with a 10-2 (6 KOs) record, has forged a successful professional career after being a three-time amateur world champion and representing Canada at the London Olympics. She claimed the WBA super-welterweight world title against Naomi Mannes last September and successfully defended it in April against Ogleidis Suarez, overcoming a serious hand injury that has since fully healed.

Mikaela Mayer, with a professional record of 21-2 (5 KOs), will assume the less familiar role of challenger. An Olympian from the Rio Games, this Los Angeles native, promoted by Top Rank, has previously held the WBO and IBF super-featherweight titles. She advanced to lightweight, securing the interim WBC title, and in September 2024, earned the WBO welterweight world title by a hard-fought majority decision against Sandy Ryan at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. She successfully defended this belt in March in a unanimous decision rematch victory over Ryan.
